"It's such a great environment, I love it!" - Lee's Story

When I was 16, I was kicked out, my mum left me and my brother and we got evicted from the house without us knowing. I had to sleep on the streets, ginnels and parks; my brother had to do the same but we went out separate ways.

My brother got his own place with his girlfriend and let me stay with him until I got a place in a hostel. I was in the hostel for two years, it was supposed to be a place that helped me find my own flat but I didn't get any help. After 18 months, It was nearly time for me to leave and I had no idea what I was supposed to do.

A friend told me about YPSF, and I was given a support worker. She told me I would be fine and she would find somewhere for me to stay. YPSF are the ones that got me a flat. Within a week or two of me meeting my support worker, they'd sorted me out with the flat I'm in now. If they hadn't been there I would be back to square one.

It's been three years now and it's great! I've matured so much and I am much happier.

I don't use YPSF's services anymore, but I still go to the drop-in twice a week. It's such a great environment, I love it! On the mornings it's open I wake up and think "Yes!" I get there before it opens, it's great!

I go for breakfast and to have a laugh, or use the phone to make important calls. They don't push you away, it's a big part of my life. If it wasn't there I don't know what I'd do. Just knowing something's there helps. They speak to you like you are their friend and you're just socialising.
